Design Principles

Looking at planes, by using apps as examples. Using figma to draw up layouts and think about why some are more successful than others.

We were asked to collect examples of the gestalt principles in real life. There are six individual principles commonly associated with gestalt theory: similarity, continuation, closure, proximity, figure/ground, and symmetry & order  There are also some additional, newer principles sometimes associated with gestalt, such as common fate.

Symmetry, I love how the M and W are reflected, with the brand name in the middle. Its a very clean and smart design. The use of black and white also remind me of a prisoners uniform.

Continuation, I love how each design is so cohesive and that they all work well together. They make a very nice looking set.

Figure/ ground. I thought that using the contents of the bag as part of the design was very smart. It gives the design movement.

Looking at shape and using the borders of frames I was able to create new shapes and forms. I found this to be a really interesting exercise and I will definitely use this technique again.
