Times New Roman gets its name from the Times of London, the British Newspaper. In 1929, the Times hired typographer Stanley Morison to create a new text font. Morison led the project, supervising Victor Lardent, an advertising artist for the Times, who drew the letterforms. Morison recommended that The Times change their text typeface from a spindly nineteenth-century face to a more robust, solid design, returning to traditions of printing from the eighteenth century and before. The new design made its debut in The Times on 3 October 1932. After one year, the design was released for commercial sale. In Times New Roman's name, Roman is a reference to the regular or Roman style, Antiqua.

I looked at the shape of newspapers themselves for inspiration, I looked at the shapes physical folded newspapers make, the how the contents are structured inside.

I researched about the structure of newspapers, I tried to incorporate the bold columns and very clean structure into my designs.

The color red is associated with energy, love and passion. It is attention-grabbing and vibrant. Red may also be associated with danger, anger and confidence. I wanted to include it in my designs, along with black and white. Keeping it very monochromatic and simple. This colour combination is very popular. A successful example of these colours being used is in the white stripes branding.

These colours go very well together, they all contrast, but also create balance together. They named themselves The White Stripes because of Meg’s fondness for red and white peppermint candy. They were part of the Michigan underground garage rock scene, playing with many local bands including the Detroit Cobras, the Dirtbombs, the Paybacks, and Rocket 455.
