Colour systems: CMYK, Pantone, RBG, RAL.
By understanding colour systems, you can achieve consistency for your brand design across printed materials, digital experiences, and production. By being consistent it makes your brand more recognisable.
CMYK:
A four colour/plate printing press. Consisting of cyan, magenta, yellow and black. It would be useful to know how printing and how colour systems work. You must ensure that the colours you use will be the same everywhere, on screen and in person. *Think in depth why you chose the colours you did. Colour significance in other cultures.
RGB:
Used for screen and electronic displays. The colours are formed using 3 light displays/ beams of various intensity.
Pantone:
Used in printing. Easily specifiable for a distinct brand colour. A distinct brand colour ensures consistency in brand reproduction. CMYK + Pantone is a fifth colour ensures that it will be the same every time. Test prints are always consistent.
RAL:
Used mainly for powder coating, varnish and plastic coloring. You might use this if you require something to be painted in your brand colours like a product or interior walls.
HEX codes: hashtag followed by six numbers and letters. Colours are made up of different percentages of other colours.
